American tonics, spirits, and brews were shaped from the beginning by scarcity, geography, regulations and tariffs that necessitated an innovative spirit. For most of history, tonics were more than celebratory libations: they were medicinal, used as currency, and fermentable products were as critical as potable water was often undrinkable. This importance led to the early British tariffs on the 13 colonies including the sugar, molasses and tea acts. During Prohibition, the creation of tonics faced even greater restrictions.

10:30 PM: Countdown to Prohibition Repeal Spirits Tasting, Trivia, & Dessert

Explore this innovative history with a special New Year's Eve workshop, trivia, and tasting of tonics, spirits, and brews that take you from the American Revolution to the days of Prohibition. Towards the end of the workshop, we'll have fun gearing up for the "repeal of prohibition" at midnight with a special prohibition-style Giggle Water-Champagne infusion and a Roaring '20s dessert sampler.
